Unfortunately Iĭo not have the target device handy but I'd like to prepare for the moment I can lay my hands on it. Next hurdle: Connect to the target device. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw windows remote registry editor was already installed on it. I reanimated an old notebook of mine with Visual Studio 2008 on it. The device can answer whether that support is available in their device. Please be aware that if you are not the OEM of the device, you may not be able to get the remote tools to work as they do require the OEM to include support for development and connectivity which they may not allow on secure devices. Both the driver model and memory modelĬhanged between 5 and 6 so even if you could get the older CE 5 tools to connect, the information might be wrong. Prior versions had eVT or Embedded Visual Tools but those are compatible with CE 5 not CE 6. I don't know of any other alternative for development against Windows CE 6.0 other than Visual Studio for Devices.
